A Diversified City Core is a Dynamic City Core

The downtown core of a dynamic city has a mixture of many sectors, such as:  retail and service businesses, healthcare, cultural venues, and educational facilities.

The current push to transform the downtown core of Brantford, Ontario into predominately a university/college campus is not in the best interests of the city.  Such a goal undermines the business sector whose members are proud of their downtown location.   Businesses that did not abandon the downtown when it was fashionable to do so.

Given how important a diversified city core is, the following questions come to mind:

1) Why was a Tiger store and adjacent strip mall approved for King George Rd. when there were and are vacancies on Colborne and Dalhousie streets?

2) Why was another retail building approved in the Price Choppers Plaza on Icomm Drive when there were and are vacancies on Colborne and Dalhousie streets?

3) Why was a Medical Centre on Sinclair Boulevard approved when there were and are vacancies on Colborne and Dalhousie streets?
