Canada Gives New Meaning to “A Bridge Too Far”

A bridge connects two countries.

People from both countries use this bridge.

People from both countries benefit from this bridge.

A new bridge needs to be built.

Is it fair to say that both countries should share the construction and operation costs?

Not so in the case of Canada and the USA regarding the Ambassador Bridge that connects Detroit and Windsor.

A new deal is needed for the Ambassador Bridge project.

If private enterprise built and operates the current bridge, why can’t private enterprise build and operate a new Ambassador Bridge?  Since the Canadian and American governments can’t afford it, a private deal makes sense.
