Do You Want Infrastructure or a Sexy Building?

“It always is far more attractive to build new and sexy things.  A lot of your infrastructure is out of sight and out of mind, so you don’t think about it or say, ‘oh, we can make this last a little bit longer.’”– Ms. Marguerite Ceschi-Smith, Brantford Councillor

Is Brantford’s city council starting to see the light?

One way for cities to have more monies for infrastructure improvements is to better manage current revenues.  The result:  responsible use of taxpayers’ dollars.

How? Focus on essential spending.  Not on, as Mr. Morris states, “frivolous consultancies (and studies), coordinators, and extravagant capital projects that are not needed.”  A perfect example of an unneeded, extravagant capital project is the proposed Laurier Brantford YMCA.
