Ratepayers need details on ON/QC electricity deal

We second the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s call for the Ontario government to reveal the nitty-gritty of the seven year deal to buy hydroelectric power from Quebec.

CTF Ontario Director Ms. Christine Van Geyn gets to the core of the issue:

“Ontario families deserve to know what we’ll be paying for imported electricity.  Maybe this is a good deal, maybe it’s a terrible one.  Given what this government has done to our electricity bills in the last decade, we can’t just take them at their word that this will be a good deal for consumers.”

You have to question why the Ontario government is buying electricity when it has a history of dumping excess electricity into neighbouring states and provinces (including Quebec) at a cost to Ontarians.
