It’s time for Brantford, Ontario city councillors Mr. Richard Carpenter and Mrs. Marguerite Ceschi-Smith to sail off into the sunset, and for former mayor, Mr. Chris Friel to keep on sailing. Mr. Carpenter and Mrs. Ceschi-Smith have served five terms. Mr. Friel served three terms. These examples demonstrate why term limits are necessary. Politicians who have served multiple terms need to realize that it is time to move on and pass the baton of public service, which is a privelige, to others.
The citizens of Brantford thank Mr. Carpenter, Mrs. Ceschi-Smith, and Mr. Friel for their service.
